The artist and ceramic Gertrude Nilsson Björklund is born in Stockholm 1961 and has been painting most of her life, everything from drawing in her room when she lived with her parents to murals at the school in Bredäng she attended.
After attending schools she started work as a children’s nurse 1978 and has worked in hospitals, nurseries and maternal wards. She has met people in crisis and development.In her line of work she has also had a creative role and has had children in art classes. The smaller children instinctive feeling for color and composition and the bigger children’s longing for romantic realism have inspired her. Gertrude’s search for inner pictures that reflect the present has taken her from renovating furniture to décor painting. She works with watercolor, tempera, silk paints and oil on canvas. Since the mid 90:ties to 2002 she was a student to Harvey Cropper.
